Something personal
I always tell my students to get ready to be “ARTISANS OF THE VOICE”, because a good VOICE OVER ARTIST makes ART: Our job is to move the listener and perform with truth. To sense what tone to use for the first word and to “dance” with the music from the beginning to the end of each piece. It’s drawing pictures with your voice (which you’ve already made in your head). Expertly inserting the appropriate pause, the architecture of the words, the revealing silence… until you get through to the person who’s listening to you. We’re the voice print that lays bare our geography, what we’ve lived through, what we are… I like saying I’m a “VOICE-OVER ARTIST” because I create filigrees with (well written) words. And no profession is more anonymous or humble than that of an artisan.
