Who I am?

Something personal

I always tell my students to get ready to be “ARTISANS OF THE VOICE”, because a good VOICE OVER ARTIST makes ART:  Our job is to move the listener and perform with truth. To sense what tone to use for the first word and to “dance” with the music from the beginning to the end of each piece. It’s drawing pictures with your voice (which you’ve already made in your head). Expertly inserting the appropriate pause, the architecture of the words, the revealing silence… until you get through to the person who’s listening to you. We’re the voice print that lays bare our geography, what we’ve lived through, what we are… I like saying I’m a “VOICE-OVER ARTIST” because I create filigrees with (well written) words. And no profession is more anonymous or humble than that of an artisan.

Melania Marcos

Voice-over artist

I’m a Voice-Over Artist for advertising, documentaries and any other project that has a soul. Artistic Director of Audiobooks and voice coach.  During the Covid lockdown I created Voces para la Resistencia (Voices for the Resistance), a project for good causes in order to flood the social networks with beauty, using great voices and poems full of light. Up to now I’ve been working passionately as a Voice Coach (I’m qualified in Coaching and NLP) and Tenured Professor of Publicity at the Madrid School of Dubbing (EDM).  I also organise workshops in schools and universities, such as the University of Jerez and the Rey Juan Carlos University.  At the same time I’m growing (together with my patients) as an Emotional Therapist, using, among other things, the voice as a therapeutic tool. I can say that communication has been a constant in my life. When I was 17 I was already combining my studies with radio hours on municipal stations in Catalonia. While studying at the Universitat de Barcelona I trained for three years in voice and dubbing in the city’s Micro Obert School. I started working for Onda Cero Radio where I developed many journalism and speaking skills: mobile broadcast units for news programmes, live news, hidden mics, culture programmes, debates, election campaigns, scripts, speakers’ corners and experimental radiophonic theatre. After experiencing the Barcelona ‘92 Olympics from the inside, I began working in the world of television.

I worked at Antena 3 TV from 1992 to 2002 doing voice overs for programmes including “Desesperado Club Social” and “Centímetros Cúbicos”, “Impacto TV”, etc. In parallel I also worked as a reporter on programmes such as “Impacto TV”, “Tribunal Popular”, “Esta noche cruzamos el Mississipi” and “Esta noche, sexo”. I broadened my experience working for Pepe Navarro, Jesús Hermida, Mercedes Milá, Isabel Gemio, etc.

However, the place where I’ve spent the most time is in the world of Advertising and Communication: for over 20 years I’ve been an actor and voice-over artist in advertising, which has given me the opportunity to be the voice of the Christmas Lottery, the voice of L’Óreal-Garnier for over 12 years (Claudia Schiffer, Penélope Cruz; Beyoncée..), Max Factor, Herbal Essence, Movistar, Endesa, Afflelou, Neutrogena, Sisheido, Nintendo, Lego, Estée Lauder, Burgo de Arias, Endesa, Royal, Galletas Príncipe, Suzuki, Kia, and a long etcetera.

Those who know me say I’ve got a versatile voice (I like experimenting). The truth is that the voice reveals who we are.  And knowing how to transmit with Truth is Magic.
